The Point System

Beyond just "Are you part of the 1003 club", a critical question is

  • How far am I away? Am I closer than my last attempt?
  • How much did I surpass it?

To determine a score, we need to decide: What should 1 minute of marathon time be equivalent to in lbs? For example:

1:10: 1 minute of marathon for 10lbs of lifting

  • 10 points per minute
  • 1 point per pound

While simple, this feels to give too much emphasis on the lifts. Here, a 2:50 and 900 pounds would be equivalent to 3:00 and 1000lb. The former seems much more impressive.

1:20: 1 minute marathon for 20lbs of lifting

  • 20 points per minute
  • 1 points per pound

A 2:55 and 900 pounds would be equivalent to 3:00 and 1000lb. This seems to give too much weight towards lifting!
